N-CBZ-Glycine

N-CBZ-Glycine

N-Benzyloxycarbonylglycine; N-CBZ-Glycine

CAS No.: 1138-80-3
Molecular Formula: C₁₀H₁₁NO₄
Molecular Weight: 209.2
EINECS No.: 214-516-0

It is the most core and commonly used N-terminal protected glycine monomer in organic and polypeptide synthesis, with its main applications concentrated in the three fields of pharmaceuticals, biochemistry and materials.

1. Peptide Synthesis
As an N-protected monomer of glycine, it is widely used in solid-phase and solution-phase peptide synthesis, serving as a key raw material for peptide drugs and bioactive peptides. The Cbz protecting group can be mildly removed via catalytic hydrogenation.

2. Pharmaceutical Intermediate
It is applied in the synthesis of various pharmaceuticals such as antihypertensive drugs (Delapril) and sedative-hypnotic drugs (Fludiazepam, Loprazolam mesylate), acting as an important pharmaceutical chemical intermediate.

3. Organic Synthesis & Biochemical Research
Used as an amino-protecting reagent and organic synthesis intermediate, it can be applied to protein/peptide modification, enzyme inhibitor preparation, structure-activity relationship (SAR) research in chemical biology, etc.

4. Materials Chemistry
Applied in the preparation of functional materials, such as compounding with graphene oxide to prepare rare earth element adsorption materials.
